I truly enjoy working with yarn from the Opal Hundertwasser edition. Yarn inspired by art, funny, but it works. I have made a pair for myself in the Wartende Hauser (at: February 07, 2007), and now a pair for someone else in Regentag auf Liebe Wellen. I even got a third yarn waiting for me; Die Strasse zum Sozialismus. I mean – just trying to pronounce the names is a serious enterprise!

Hundertwasser – Wartende Häuser I have to admit, …
I have to admit, I’m still going on about Hundertwasser. His art, which isn’t really among my favorites, is first and foremost about colors. And I guess that’s why he has become an inspiration for the color-designers at Opal.
These are not knitted in the yarn received yesterday, but were actually made a month ago, and have been used almost daily, indoors as outdoors, since. Hopefully this indicates good yarn quality… Anyway the colores are great (a bit richer than what these flash photos gives impression of), inspired by “Wartende Häuser”, thanks to Mr. Hundertwasser!

liebe wellen
I have just had this blog for a couple of days, still a few things are about to fail right from the beginning, first
– I intended writing this blog in Norwegian…
– Second; I planned to not buy any yarn this month – .

The language bit just happened, and maybe my original dialect will show up again later. In defense of the ongoing yarn shopping I have to declare that the yarn in this post was ordered in January, before the shopping ban – .
So here are two balls of Variations on the work of Hundertwasser – 4 ply sock yarn from Opal. One is called Die Strasse zum Sozialismus, the other is Regentag auf Liebe Wellen. I can’t imagine socks having nicer name than this. And as you can see, the weather really call for warm socks right now!
Yarn inspired by art is a good thing! I’m now looking forward to making The Scream, Guernica, Mona Lisa and Water Lilies socks. Most of all I’d like to make a pair of Brillo-Boxe-Socks!

jaywalkers no 1
